Best Practices
Here are the best ways to set up KioWare Lite for Android on your kiosk or computer.
Tab and Setting | Best Practice |
General Tab, Start on Boot | This is essential to turn on because, with most Android devices, you can press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds to turn it off. With this setting turned on, KioWare Lite for Android automatically starts when the device is turned back on. |
Security Tab, Enable Device Administrator | If you are using Single App Mode (see Security Tab, Application Manager, Single Application Mode) or any other third-party Android application, then you will want to turn off this setting. Otherwise, we highly recommend turning it on. It will ask for a device passcode (pin, password, or pattern), which is what you will use to exit KioWare Lite for Android. |
Security Tab, Disable Status Bar | If using Android 4.4 or higher, you will want to turn on this setting. It keeps users from accessing the swipe-down status bar. This is especially important on Android 5.0. |
Security Tab, Selected Home App | Set “KioWare” as Android's home app. On Android 4.4 and higher, this is easy to do. Just go into the Android settings, select “Home” under the Device heading, and change the selected app to “KioWare”. |
